The Saudi Arabian capital Ryadh is pushing ahead with the construction of a modern and efficient public transport system for its approximately 5.7 million inhabitants. Line 1 (Blue Line) with a total length of 38 kilometers will run from north to south along the Olaya-King Faisal-Batha Corridor. The route includes 16.2 kilometers of tunnel to be excavated with mechanized tunnelling. The twin-track subway tunnels are being lined with concrete segments with an outer diameter of 9,920 millimeters and a width of 1,800 millimeters. Four Herrenknecht Multi-mode TBMs are being used for the drive.

  • 20 sets of segment moulds for stationary production and segment handling equipment
  • Planning and design of the complete segment production line
  • Factory setup including site preparation (leveling and consolidation, access roads)
  • Steel construction, MEP works and building concrete works
  • Gantry cranes, overhead cranes, rails and transport trolleys

  • Data recording system SDS (Segment Documentation System)

In order to reduce interfaces during planning, design, supply and installation, the customer ordered a turnkey segment production plant from Herrenknecht Formwork. With the longterm experience and on the basis of the full-range portfolio of the company, interfaces can be reduced or optimized efficiently during all phases of the project.
