Throughout the world, mechanized tunnelling is driving the safe and cost-effective creation of key infrastructures. For the initial lining of the bored tubes, concrete segments weighing several tonnes and produced in precision moulds are required. Optimized production of thousands of segments is an integral part of an efficient tunnel jobsite.

Albvorlandtunnel - Germany

For the lining of the 8,176 m long twin tube tunnel between Wendlingen and Kirchheim unter Teck (part of the railway project Stuttgart – Ulm) the construction company Implenia produces 60,000 concrete segments.

Filder Tunnel - Germany

More than 54,000 reinforced concrete segments have been installed in the approx. 10 km long Filder Tunnel. With 42 precision moulds and a sophisticated handling concept Herrenknecht Formwork contributed to a reliable production of the segments.
