As the centerpiece of the route's expansion, the Ejpovice Tunnel contributes significantly to reducing travel time between Pilsen and the capital Prague to less than an hour. In addition, the region around Pilsen – with about 170,000 inhabitants the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic – will be better connected to the trans-European transport network. The two railroad tunnels with a length of approx. 4 km between Rokycany and Pilsen were excavated using a Multi-mode TBM from Herrenknecht with a diameter of just under 10 meters and lined with concerete segments with a thickness of 400mm. With an inner diameter of 8.7m it is the largest tunnel with segmental lining in the Czech Republic.

Anchored gaskets

Anchored gaskets are directly placed into the mould before concreting. Therefore, the systems offers an improved bond of the sealing on the segment.  

Further, they offer a quick and economic production cycle as subsequent application of the gasket is no longer necessary and a gasket gluing frame is not required.
