The plans for the large-scale "Klang Valley MRT" project in Kuala Lumpur envisage the construction of three new subway lines with a total length of 150 kilometers. The first construction phase, the "Blue Line", has a length of 51 kilometers. Two 9.5 kilometer sections run underground through karstified limestone and through the Kenny Hill Formation. Due to the changing and complex conditions in Kuala Lumpur's underground, two Herrenknecht EPB Shields and six of the newly developed Variable Density TBMs from Herrenknecht have been in operation on the project. With a ring distribution of 7 + 1, the segments for lining the tunnels have an inside diameter of 5,800 millimeters.

Herrenknecht Formwork assembled the formwork for Kuala Lumpur at the Chengdu site in China. 20 sets of precision moulds were manufactured there to supply up to ten simultaneously tunnelling TBMs with a total of over 100,000 segments.

With production sites in Europe and Asia as well as a worldwide service and support network, Herrenknecht Formwork has strong manufacturing capabilities. Customer requirements can be implemented correspondingly reliably and flexibly.
