Segment and ring design with 3D modeling.

The design of segments and segment rings involves a complex planning process, which includes various factors, such as the later line routing, with its straights and three dimensional curves, and compliance with the structural calculations, including the tunnel covering. Both the conicity of the rings and the diagonal longitudinal joints (particularly in the key segment area) are accurately mapped, using 3D modeling.

Herrenknecht Formwork designers are specially trained in drawing and designing in 3D. As an essential part of our production of segment drawings, we maintain close dialog with our customers and the structural calculation engineers, to ensure that everything is a perfect fit when construction starts.
